Friday 21st December 2007

Went through the exercise of chapter 6 of the thinking in C lessons.
- Functions.
These lessons are not very good. The details are not explained well enough and they are really hard to listen to, since they are boring. I am going to stop going through them now and come back to them after the tests. I might do a little in betwen though.

For the future.
I am going to start my introduction to programming coursework on Sunday without finishing these lessons. We weren't taught this stuff in the first place after all. I won't be doing anything tomorrow because of work, although I might be able to go through the katakana and learn a few lines.

I am also going to make a page for the chess games I have played with Manoj and Devan, in order to practice my CSS.

Thursday 20th December 2007

Went through lesson 6 of the thinking in C lessons.

Didn't get to do the exercise, I need to finish that later.

すしはきらいです - I hate sushi (I don't).
Dislike - すきではありません
なっとすきではありません - I don't like natto (I have never even tried it, but I hear it is nasty).

Wednesday 19th December 2007

No learning today, been downloading all day. It is the last day of the premium rapidshare account I obtained, so I have to get everything I want to get before it runs out...

Tuesday 18th December 2007

Went through chapters 3-5 of the thinking in C lessons
- Binary, unary and ternary operators
- Controlling program flow, decision making, repetition.
- Compound data types, arrays, strings, structures.
I am learning all these the C way, since my C++ book reccomends it. However, once I start reading the book, I will be using the C++ ways again, so I don't know how much of a good idea that really is.

For the future.
Found a good electronics book I need to buy and read.
Learned about asterisk, which I definitely need to install in the future.

Monday, 17 December 2007

Monday 17th December 2007

Went through chapters 1-2 of the Thinking in C lessons.
- Examing statements, comments, include files and standard I/O.
- Fundamental data types. Converting from one type to another.
I knew most of this already, but there are some differences still. Having to listen to the chapters rather than being able to read them is booooring.

Read chapter 12 (positioning elements) of CSS - the missing manual and completed the exercises.
- Absolute positioning.
- Relative positioning.
- Can be used to create sidebars, image captions, etc.
Advanced CSS next. The bit about printing seems silly, the other bit does seem good though. Learning about C and C++ comes first however.
